Please be advised that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will implement a new Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) Platform for all containerised cargo destined for Kenya.
Before containerised cargo can be loaded for shipment to Kenya, exporters will be required to obtain an Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) Reference Code via the KRA ACD platform.
The ACD reference number must be issued prior to shipping and will be endorsed on the Bill of Lading before the cargo is allowed to proceed to a Kenyan port. This is a mandatory 15-digit alphanumeric code for all seafreight destined or transiting through Kenyan ports.
Failure to obtain the ACD Reference Code may result in delays to cargo destined for Kenya.
Effective Date for new regulations is 3 August 2026.
