SEVERE CONGESTION AND SUPPLY CHAIN DELAYS IN DURBAN PORT

Durban is experiencing severe congestion and operational delays, particularly at the Durban Gateway Terminal. The situation has been made worse due to the recent implementation of a new terminal operating system, together with equipment constraints, yard congestion and truck congestion.

Vessels are currently experiencing significant delays to berth and discharge, while containers are taking longer than normal to move through the terminal. Some shipping lines are advising delays of 10–20 days, depending on the service and vessel. Recovery is underway, but the backlog will take some time to clear.

Our teams will keep you updated as the situation develops.
