Freight rates from India to South Africa have increased significantly due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, resulting in vessels being rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope and longer transit times. This, together with congestion at key Indian ports such as Nhava Sheva and Mundra, reduced vessel capacity, blank sailings and delayed schedules has further tightened available space.
In addition, strong pre-peak-season demand and increased carrier congestion/peak-season surcharges are contributing to the current rate increases.
In light of this, Thrutainers International will adjust our rates in accordance with these increases, effective SOB 15th August 2026.
